Toasted -or- Roasted Chickpeas

Now that you cracked a can of chickpeas to get the aquafaba for the last recipe, let's not let these little delectable gems go to waste! The recipe you are about to read is most certainly the reason our favorite grocery store put a limit on how many cans we're allowed to buy at one time. OOPS. Sorry, not sorry.


These babies turn into such a delicious shnack that you don't even necessarily have to share! Who shares anymore, anyway?


Whether you call them chickpeas or garbanzo beans... HINT: (we get that garbanzo mood)...

Whether you toast 'em or you roast 'em,

And whether you like the sweet, the spicy, or the savory version best,

Mix up a batch of these snacky bites and #bringthesugar.


For Toasting:

Heat 2 T vegetable (or grapeseed or avocado) oil in pan until hot--enough to cover the bottom.

Add in 1 can chickpeas*.

Saute for 7+ minutes until brown and crispy.

Transfer to paper towel with slotted spoon.

Cool 1 min.

Toss in bowl to coat with flavor mix of choice.


For Roasting:

Spread 1 can chickpeas* on parchment lined rimmed baking sheet.

Roast a 375 F for 45-60 mins, stirring 1-2 times during baking.

Once crunchy, transfer to bowl and toss with 1 T oil + flavor mix of choice.




CINNA-SUGAR

1 tsp MORTAR + KUSH Raw Hemp Sugar

1 tsp sugar

1 1/2 tsp cinnamon

1/4 tsp nutmeg


GARLIC PARMESAN

1 1/2 T freshly grated Parmesan cheese

1/2 tsp garlic powder

1/2 tsp lemon zest

1/2 tsp dried oregano

1/2 tsp Kosher salt

1/2 tsp MORTAR + KUSH Refined Hemp Sugar

1/4 tsp freshly cracked black pepper


SPICED

1 tsp smoked paprika

1 tsp chili powder

1/4 tsp cumin

1/4 tsp cayenne [optional, but recommended]

1/2 tsp MORTAR + KUSH Refined Hemp Sugar

1/4 tsp Kosher salt

1/4 - 1/2 tsp lime zest



NOTES:

  • *To get chickpeas crispy + crunchy: drain, rinse, and pat dry on towel to remove as much moisture as possible prior to toasting or roasting.

  • You need about 1-2 T of flavor mix to every 1 can chickpeas. Adjust to your preference, accordingly!

  • Although these will store for a few days at room temp in an airtight container, we've never actually haaaaaad leftovers...but feel free to let us know what that's like.
